Criticising the government for its move to hike electricity prices BNP leader Nazrul Islam Khan said on Wednesday this administration must go so that the people get power at cheaper rates, reports UNB.

"Everything will get pricier as long as they will be in office, while people's lives will keep on losing the value. So, change the government if you want the power tariff to fall," he said.

The BNP standing committee member was addressing a meeting of Jatiyatabadi Sramik Dal central committee at Mahbub Ali Auditorium in the city's Shahjahanpur.

He feared that the prices of each essential will go up if the power tariff is hiked. "This will only compound public sufferings. We're against power tariff hike," he said.

"Stop looting public money in the name of quick rental power plants and enhance your competence to check power pilferage," he said pointing to the government. "Then you won't have to raise the prices of power," Nazrul said.
