BNP joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said on Saturday their programmes would be finalised 'very soon' to force the government to concede to their demand for immediately holding a fresh general election under a neutral caretaker government, without elaborating, report agencies.
"In this connection, a meeting of the BNP standing committee will be convened soon which will be followed by another meeting of the BNP-led 20-party alliance. Then the programmes will be made public through the media," he said while talking to reporters at party's Nayapaltan central office.
Rizvi alleged that the government grabbed the state power without people's mandate. "The ministers are making provocative statements losing their sense of balance."
Pointing to the ministers, the BNP leader said, "You don't have any connection with the people as you were not elected by them."
He drew parallels between ministers who were ridiculing the BNP's movement plan and the acts of Tikka Khan in '71 and Ershad's during his military rule.
