The bodies of actress Nayar Sultana Lopa and Dr Shamarukh Mahjabin Shama have been exhumed for re-autopsy in the city and Jessore, reports agencies.
Once a child star, lopa was widely known for playing 'Tuni' in Humayun Ahmed's television drama - 'Ei Shob Dinratri'.
Her body was found hanging from a ceiling fan at her in-laws home in Dhaka's Gulshan area on Oct 16.
The case filed by Lopa's mother Razia Sultana accuses the actress' husband, Ali Amin, and both his parents.
Her body was exhumed in the presence of an executive around noon and sent to the Sir Salimullah Medical College for fresh autopsy Thursday, said Gulshan Police ASI Billal Hossain.
Police reported that there were wounds on the right side of her neck and on her right wrist.
The report of her autopsy said the 35-year-old had hung herself but her mother rejected the finding and pleaded for re-examination.
Dhaka's Deputy Commissioner accepted her plea and ordered the body to be exhumed on Nov 26.
A committee led by a professor of the Sir Salimullah Medical College was tasked to supervise it.
Lopa's husband Amin was arrested soon after the case was filed. He claimed he was outside when Lopa hung herself for a fight they were having over the ownership of their Gulshan apartment.
Meanwhile in Jessore, the body of Dr Shamarukh, who was found dead at her residence at Dhanmondi in Dhaka on November 13, was exhumed from Karbala Graveyard here Thursday noon, 19 days after her burial, for a fresh post-mortem.
The body was sent to Jessore Medical College Hospital morgue for re-autopsy after its exhumation at 12.00 noon.
Mahjabin's body was exhumed following a court order after a petition filed by victim's father, Nurul Islam. Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Bikash Kumar Saha of Dhaka on November 25 ordered the exhumation.
The body was exhumed in presence of Dr Safayet Hossain and Dr Jasmine Sumaiya of Forensic Department of the Jessore Medical College Hospital, Ruhul Quddus, assistant superintendent of police of Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Dhaka, executive magistrate of Jessore Abdus Salam and Enamul Haque, officer-in-charge of Jessore Kotwali Police Station.
On November 13, Mahjabin, wife of Humayun Sultan Sadab, the eldest son of Khan Tipu Sultan, an Awami League leader and former MP from Jessore-5, was found dead at their Dhanmandi residence in the capital.
Mahjabin was studying FCPS at Bangladesh Sheikh Mujib Medical University on completion of MBBS from Holy Family Medical College in Dhaka.
Later, police arrested her husband, Humayun, in connection with the murder. Mahjabin's in-laws claimed that she committed suicide by hanging herself from the grill in her room with a scarf.
Nurul Islam, father of the deceased, filed a murder case against Khan Tipu Sultan, his wife Dr Jasmine Ara Begum and their son Humayun.
According to the case records, Humayun used to torture his wife -- both mentally and physically. Mahjabin faced strong opposition from her in-laws when she had expressed her interest to appear in the 35th BCS examination.
Meanwhile, on December 1, police arrested three people from Karbala Graveyard here while 'trying to dig up' the body of Mahjabin.
