Body to probe Biman officials\\\' involvement

The Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism (MoCAT) formed Sunday a committee to investigate into the involvement of Biman officials in gold smuggling.

Additional secretary of the MoCAT Abu Hena Md Rahmatul Munim will investigate into the matter.

"The committee will submit its report within the next fifteen working days," according to the ministry concerned.

The committee will investigate into gold smugglings at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka.

The Detective Police of Dhaka Metropolitan Police on November 19 arrested five Biman officials including its Deputy General Manager (DGM) over their alleged involvement in gold smuggling. They are now on 4 days' remand.  

The arrested Biman officials are -- DGM of Biman Emdad Hossain, Chief of Planning and Scheduling Captain Abu Mohammad Aslam Shaheed, manager (scheduling) Tozzamel Hossain, contractor/ supplier of   Biman Mahmudul Haque alias Palash and money exchange trader Harun-ur- Rashid.

Mahmudul Haque Palash is known as 'religion son' (dharma putra) of Chairman of Biman Jamal Uddin Ahmed.
