CHITTAGONG, Aug 22 (UNB): Four workers were killed and 16 others injured in a furnace boiler explosion in an auto re-rolling mill at Banubazar village in Sitakunda Upazila here Wednesday early morning.
The deceased were identified as Sumon (20), Nasir (18), Sohrab (22) and Salam (35). The bodies of the deceased were deformed in the blast that took place at about 6:30 am.
All the injured were admitted to Chittagong Medical College Hospital in critical condition.
Police initially cited leakage in furnace pipe of the mill as reason for blast when the night shift workers were on duty in the mill.
Windowpanes of the residences of nearby areas were broken due to the impact of the sound of huge explosion.
