BTCL set to cut bandwidth rate

The Bangladesh Telecommunication Company Limited (BTCL) is set to reduce bandwidth rate, aiming to make internet service more affordable to common people.
The board of directors of the state-owned telecommunication company on November 5 approved the price reduction mainly to post-paid connections, a well placed official with in
the BTCL told the FE.
The new value-based pre-paid internet service will full under three different price rates, the source said.
Under the new charge rate, post paid (unlimited) internet use of 128 kbps speed will be charged Tk 800 per month instead of existing Tk1000 per months. Similarly, 256 kbps speed post paid users will be charged Tk1200 per month, which is Tk1,500 per month.

Tk100 was also reduced in the post paid (unlimited) connection charges of 512k bps speed. Current monthly bandwidth charge under this category is Tk 2,100 per month.
The new bandwidth rates have also introduced 'volume-based (post paid) service' under three speed packages. BCube SuperSaver (speed up to 128 kbps) will be offered at Tk 300 per month with a 2GB monthly free download service.
The second package, BCube Premium, offers 512 kbps speed at Tk 1200 with 8GB monthly free download service.
The third package, BCube Express, offers internet service up to 1mbps with a charge of Tk 2400 per month. Monthly free download traffic under this package is 16GB, as announced.
Besides, day time pre-paid internet users will be charged Tk700 per month under the new rate-chart in the place of current Tk750 per month of 128 kbps speed.
The revised bandwidth charge also offered special concession for unlimited users, the official who is a member of BTCL board said requesting anonymity.
