Budgetary allocation for Law Division rises by 3.0pc

The government has proposed an increase in the budgetary allocation for the Law and Justice Division under the Ministry of Law by 3.0 per cent.

The national budget for fiscal year (FY) 2018-19 proposed an allocation of Tk 15.23 billion (1,523 crore) for the Law and Justice Division.

The budgetary allocation for FY 2017-18 was Tk 14.80 billion.

Of the total allocation in the next fiscal, the operating budget is Tk 10.42 billion and development budget Tk 4.8 billion.

Under one of the projects to be implemented in FY '19, buildings will be constructed in 64 districts for Chief Judicial Magistrates' Courts.

The other projects are as follows:

Capacity building of the Law and Justice Division for strengthening subordinate judiciary's management project;

Strengthening capacity of judicial system for child protection in Bangladesh project,

Construction of district registrars' and sub-registrars' offices in different districts of Bangladesh project,

Justice Reform and Corruption Prevention (first revs) project, and

Construction of a 12-storied building with ancillary facilities for expansion of Bangladesh Supreme Court.
