Bus first kills varsity student then child

A rashly-driven bus first killed a university student and later in a bid to flee the scene it crushed to death a child in the capital's Rampura area on Thursday.

Sources said the bus coming at a high speed hit Zahid Hasan (24) near Rampura Bridge area at around 4:00 pm.

Critically injured, Zahid Hasan was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where the attending doctor declared him dead at around 5:30 pm.

Zahid was studying BSc in Mechanical Engineering at North China Electric Power University. He came to Bangladesh recently on vacation. He hailed from Munshiganj district and was the son of Modasser Ali.

He lived with his family in Staff Quarter area of Demra in Dhaka, according to the police station concerned.

Later the bus while fleeing the scene crushed to death a child named Mahedi Parves (7).

Police managed to catch the driver of the killer bus, who was identified as Arif.
