Buying spree boosts share prices

Indices on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) gained amid a hefty turnover and capitalisation due to buying spree Sunday, the first trading session of the week.
Market operators said the investors are buying the issues. As a result, the indices on the DSE are also increasing.
On Sunday's trading session DSE-20 Index (DS20), DSE General Index (DGEN) and All Shares Price Index (DSI) gained by 47.579 points, 25.262 points and 22.911 points to close at 1927.144, 2229.389 and 1830.911 respectively.
The total turnover marginally declined to Tk 1.658 billion from Tk 1.698 billion Thursday, the last trading session of the last week. The total market capitalisation increased to Tk 498.732 billion from Tk 493.492 billion Thursday.
Out of 214 traded issues prices of 116 gained 76 declined and 22 remained unchanged.
Summit Power was the turnover leader with a volume of Tk 121.120 million, followed by BRAC Bank with Tk 97.550 million, Desco with Tk 78.746 million, Power Grid with Tk 77.670 million, Grameen One with Tk 64.555 million, Square Pharma with Tk 64,298 million, Dhaka Bank with Tk 61.806 million, Southeast Bank with Tk 57.245 million, Prime Bank with Tk 48.146 million and AB Bank with Tk 44.148 million.
Prices of Summit Power gained by 3.39 per cent to close at Tk 1058.75 per share, Desco by 2.72 per cent to Tk 997.25, Square Pharma by 1.63 per cent to Tk 3788.25, Dhaka Bank by 9.11 per cent to Tk 607.50, Southeast Bank by 2.64 per cent to Tk 494.75, Prime Bank by 4.01 per cent to Tk 757.00 and AB Bank by 4.19 per cent to Tk 1824.50.
BRAC Bank declined by 0.06 per cent to Tk 790.25, Power Grid by 0.46 per cent to Tk 589.00 and Grameen One by 0.18 per cent to Tk 54.10.
The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has fined Mr. A. K. M. Mayeedul Islam (Chairman/Director), Mrs. Khadiza Shamim (Managing Director), Mrs. Seleena Begum (Director) of Quasem Silk Mills Ltd of Tk 100,000 each for non-compliance of securities laws.
The SEC has also fined Mr. Aminur Rasul (Managing Director/Director), Mr. Jamal Uddin Ahmed (Chairman/Director), Mr. Md. Mashukur Rasul (Director), Mr. Iftekhar Mahmud (Director) of Chictex Ltd Tk 100,000 lac each for non-compliance of securities laws.
