Cabinet body on purchase approves Tk 4.55b proposals

The Cabinet Committee on Purchase approved on Sunday seven proposals worth Tk 4.55 billion.
The approval was given at a meeting held on the day at the Cabinet Division of the Bangladesh Secretariat with Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith in the chair.
After the meeting, Additional Secretary of the Cabinet Division, Md Mostafizur Rahman, told the media that the committee has approved three proposals for importing 75,000 tonnes of urea fertiliser.  
"The Cabinet Committee on Purchase approved three proposals for importing a total of 75,000 tonnes of urea fertiliser. Each proposal offered to import 25,000 tonnes of urea fertiliser," he said.
He said out of the total urea fertiliser, 50,000 tonnes will be imported through the Chittagong port while the rest 25,000 tonnes through the Mongla port. Desh Agency has got the work order for importing the urea fertiliser. The total cost would be around Tk 1.96 billion.   
The other proposals that the committee approved include appointment of consultancy firm for supervising the work of China CAMC Engineering Company Ltd for Padma (Jashaldia) Water Treatment Project at a cost of Tk 222.6 million, appointing contractor for constructing 440-metre-long Girder Bridge on the river Tulatuli at Garuria-Govindrapur road under Bakerganj upazila in Barisal. Its cost is fixed at Tk 527 million.    
MEC Engineering and Construction Limited has got the work order for constructing 5 ten-storied buildings at Dhalpur Cleaners' Colony for cleaners of Dhaka City Corporation. Its cost will be Tk 845 million.
Mir Akhter Hossain Limited will build the ten-storied academic bhaban-1 of Bangabandhu Poverty Alleviation and Rural Academy (BAPARD) in Gopalganj at a cost of Tk 990 million.
