Cases, positivity rate decline

Both the daily Covid-19 cases and the virus test positivity rate declined slightly in Bangladesh on Tuesday. The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) reported 32 Covid-19 cases and its infection rate at 0.75 per cent on the day.
The figures were 37 and 0.77 per cent respectively on Saturday. The DGHS also recorded zero death from the coronavirus on Tuesday.
With the latest daily counts, the total fatalities from Covid-19 reached 29,127 while the total caseloads crossed 1.95 million in Bangladesh since the virus was detected in Bangladesh. During the last 24-hour reporting time, some 4,290 samples were tested while 4,275 samples were collected across the country.
UNB adds: The overall number of Covid cases globally is now fast approaching 522 million amid a rise in new infections in parts of the world. According to Johns Hopkins University (JHU), the total case count mounted to 521,911,280 while the death toll from the virus reached 6,265,362 Tuesday morning.
