FE Report
The Bangladesh Bank (BB) has raised the maximum limit of cash foreign exchange equivalent to US$2000 for a traveller from existing $1500, official sources said.
"We normally increase such limit when the flow of cash dollar stands at a satisfactory level in different commercial banks," a BB senior official told the FE Sunday.
He also said a traveller is allowed to receive a maximum of $3000 in a year to visit different countries while the amount is $1000 for SAARC (South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation) countries only.
The central bank issued a circular in this connection Sunday and asked the commercial banks to follow the new limit for issuing the US dollar to travellers both local and foreign nationals.
Others formalities, including submission of the passport and air ticket, will remain unchanged for issuing such foreign currency, the sources added.
