Chief coordinator among 5 JMB men held in Sirajganj

Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) members arrested five suspected members of banned Islamic outfit Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB), including its chief coordinator, from Sirajganj district early Friday, reports UNB.
The elite force also recovered huge bombs and bomb-making materials from their possession.
The arrestees are JMB chief coordinator Abdun Nur (31), its Ehsar (policymaking body) members Nur Islam, Nuruzzaman, and second-tier (Gayer-e-Ehsar) members Abul Kalam Azad and Faruk Ahmed.
Briefing reporters at the Rab headquarters on Friday, its director (legal and media wing) Commander Mufti Mahmud said the crime busters had information that chief coordinator of the banned militant outfit, Abdun Nur, along with other JMB members was travelling to Joydevpur from Chapainawabganj by a train.
Based on the information, a team of Rab-12 conducted a drive at Shaheed Mansur Ali Railway Station in Sirajganj around 2:30am and arrested the five members of the Islamic outfit, he said
The elite force also recovered 49 primary detonators, 26 electronic detonators, four time bombs, 210kg power gel, 155 circuits, 55 jihadi books, 45 button-type circuits and one power regulator from their possession, he added.
During preliminary interrogation, the arrested JMB men confessed that they were trying to reorganise the banned organisation as well as recruit new members for it.
