Bangladeshi citizens, who intend to take medical treatment in China are entitled to apply for Chinese medical visa.
Provisions for applying medical visa is there but none usually apply for that, a senior official of the Chinese Embassy said on Wednesday.
"We have high quality but less expensive healthcare facility. As such, Bangladeshi patients seeking medical treatment can apply for Chinese medical visa to avail high quality and reliable treatment in China from now on", said Chinese Ambassador Zhang Zuo while addressing a programme organised by the embassy at a. city hotel.
The ambassador awarded 20 preselected patients to avail medical treatment in the First Hospital in Kunming to mark this inauguration. Chinese embassy is funding their medical treatment cost.
"This step has taken to fulfil the consensus reached during President Xi 's Dhaka visit when both Bangladesh and China decided to take Xhina-Bangladesh ties to a new height.
Mr Zhang said augmenting people-to-people relationship is crucial to deepeing the long standing ties between the two countries.
With this keeping in mind China has decided to explore the potential of its fast growing medical tourism for Bangladesh, he noted.
Irving group, a Bangladeshi business house, also the local partner of China National Tourism Office was assigned to select these patientss from underprivileged group of people.
