CITF starts in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM, Feb 15: The 31st Chattogram International Trade Fair (CITF) 2024 commenced on Thursday at the Railway Polo ground, following the annual tradition.

State Minister for Commerce Ahasanul Islam Titu MP served as the inaugurator for the event, while Education Minister Barrister Muhibul Hasan Chowdhury MP virtually attended the inaugural function as the chief guest.

The President of Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI), Omar Hazaz, chaired the opening ceremony.

During the function, Education Minister Barrister Muhibul Hasan Chowdhury MP expressed optimism about Bangladesh's ongoing progress and credited the economic growth to the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

He acknowledged the CCCI's successful organisation of the international trade fair for the past 31 years and announced the government's intention to allocate a permanent venue for future editions.

The minister emphasised Chattogram's significance as the international gateway for Bangladesh and pledged governmental support for the city's development, highlighting the crucial role of Chittagong port in the country's economy.

Former CCCI president and lawmaker M A Latif, FBCCCI President Mahbubul Alam, and Assistant High Commissioner of India Dr. Rajib Ranjan were special guests at the event. Chairman of CITF 2024, AKM Akter Hossain, also addressed the function.

CCCI President Omar Hazaz highlighted the opportunity for businessmen from Chattogram and across the country to showcase their products to the international business community at CITF.

The fair features the participation of four foreign countries: India, Thailand, China, and Iran.

Companies from other countries will also take part in the fair with a total of 16 Premier pavilions, 56 premier stalls, 94 Gold Stalls, 48 mega stalls, 11 food corners, 3 separate zones, and 400 general stalls.

A total of 310 companies are participating in CITF 2024.

Additionally, the fairgrounds will include a female industrial zone, a covered zone for Information Technology (IT), and a Children's World for kids' entertainment. The CITF will be open from 10 am to 10 pm every day for visitors.
