CMCCI holds int\\\'l trade fair on Dec 3-31

CHITTAGONG, Nov 7: Chittagong Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CMCCI) is going to organize its maiden trade and export fair at Abahoni Ground, Halishahar in the port-city on December 3-31.
Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed will be present as the chief guest at the Bangladesh International Trade and Export Fair (BITEF-2014).
BITEF will have a total of 170,000 square feet area, where 10 mega pavilions, 8 medium pavilions, 18 standard pavilions, 5 booths of banks and insurance companies, 124 stalls, 5 restaurants and 3 towers will be set up to accommodate local producers along with a separate export zone.
The fair will remain open from 10 am to 10 pm on all days. Each visitor will have to buy Tk 10 ticket for an entry.
A number of seminars and roundtables will be held during the fair. Government law-enforcers and private security personnel will be deployed in and around the fair venue.
These were informed at a press conference at CMCCI Conference Hall on Friday afternoon.
 "This is a new generation fair, the first of its kind in the country. In the fair, export orders will be received from foreign buyers, especially for items like skins and hides, fish and vegetables," said Aminuzzaman Bhuiyan, convenor of the programme.
CMCCI president Khalilur Rahman said the fair will have a combination of both trade and export. It has been arranged in line with the Vision 2021, envisaged by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Vice president AM Mahbub Chowdhury said the fair has been organized not with the aim of earning money. But its main objective is to display the variety of local products to visitors from home and abroad.
Director MA Awal also spoke on the occasion, where other directors - SM Abu Taher, Abul Bashar Chowdhury and Md Abdul Malek, and Azadi editor MA Malek were present.
The CMCCI leaders said the chamber started its journey only four years back. But it has contributed a lot through effective cooperation to facilitate trade, business and industry in the country.
