Dhaka Metropolitan CNG-run Auto-rickshaw Malik Samity Oikya Parishad Wednesday suspended their 72-hour strike until June 9 amid assurances from the authorities concerned that their demand would be considered, reports UNB.
Member secretary of the Parishad ATM Nazmul Hasan said that the authorities gave them a written assurance that they would fulfill their demands by June 9.
The decision came following a fruitful meeting with Bangladesh Roads Transport Authority (BRTA) held at its office in the city.
According to their decision, CNG-run auto-rickshaws started plying the city streets at 4:00 pm.
They will go on strike again if their demands are not met by June 9.
The Oikya Parishad enforced 72-hour strike in the capital at 6:00 am on Tuesday demanding extension of economic lifespan of the vehicle by four years more.
The announcement to observe the 72-hour strike came from an emergency meeting held at its temporary office in the city on Monday last.
The government banned all two-stroke auto-rickshaws in urban areas in2002 giving permission to run the four-stroke CNG-run three-wheelers.
