Commerce ministry asks Evaly to explain its plan by Sept 2

The commerce ministry has asked e-commerce platform Evaly to explain by September 2 how it would settle its current liabilities to customers and merchants.
Besides, it has sought detailed explanation from Evaly about its available assets and liabilities until 15 July 2021, to be provided by August 19 next.
It has instructed the online platform to provide the volume of liabilities to the customers including the number of related customers until 15 July 2021, by August 26 next.
The ministry has also asked the online platform to provide the volume of liabilities to the merchants by September 02 next.
The commerce ministry sent the notice to Evaly Chairman Shamima Nasrin and Managing Director Mohammad Rassel on Thursday, asking them to provide the information within the mentioned deadline.
The notice was sent following an inter-ministerial committee meeting on Evaly held at the ministry on Wednesday.
The committee meeting allowed the company to comply with the new deadline, in response to the company's request for six-month time for providing the information.
Earlier, on August 01, the e-commerce platform sought a minimum of a six-month time to respond in detail to the commerce ministry's show-cause notice that was served on July 19 last.
