The daily Covid-19 caseload jumped to 1,027 in Bangladesh on Wednesday from the previous day's 656.

On the other hand, the number of fatalities from the coronavirus declined to five on the day against nine on Tuesday, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

With the latest daily counts, the total death toll from Covid-19 reached 29,217 while the total caseload crossed 1.99 million since the virus detected first in Bangladesh.

During the last 24-hour reporting period, 7,448 samples were tested, including antigen-based rapid tests, while 7,523 samples were collected across the country.

However, the Covid-19 test positivity rate marginally moved up to 13.79 per cent on the day from the previous day's 13.78 per cent.

However, a total of 1,559 people recovered from the Covid-19 disease in the country during the last 24-hour period, the DGDH data revealed. The rate of recovery from the disease was reported at 96.25 per cent on the day.

However, the rate of fatalities from Covid-19 remained static at 1.47 per cent. More than 14.46 million samples had been tested in the country until Wednesday.
