The number of positive Covid-19 cases in the country crossed 2.0 million with 884 new infections on Thursday.
Meanwhile, another six fatalities caused by the viral disease were reported on the day, according to the daily update by Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
So far, Bangladesh saw 29,256 deaths from Covid-19 while the caseload reached about 2,000,279.
Some 9,010 samples were tested in last 24 hours to find 9.81 per cent of them as positive, decreased from 12.20 per cent a day earlier.
Till date, overall positivity rate stood 13.76 per cent while mortality rate remained static at 1.46 per cent. Besides, another 1,602 people recovered from the disease taking total number of recoveries to 1,931,494. The recovery rate now stood at 96.56 per cent.
Of the deceased on the day, four were men while two were women, DGHS data showed.
Of them, two each were from Dhaka and Barisal divisions while two others were from Khulna and Mymensingh divisions.
Among the eight divisions, Dhaka logged the highest number of cases, with 505 infections.
UNB adds: Globally the overall number of Covid cases is now nearing 571 million amid a rise in new infections in Southeast Asia, the Middle East and Europe.
According to the latest global data, the total case count mounted to 570,835,424 and the death toll reached 6,395,522 Thursday morning.
The US has recorded 91,767,460 cases so far and 1,050,702 people have died from the virus in the country, the data shows.
India's daily Covid-19 caseload Wednesday again breached the 20,000 mark after remaining below it for the past two days, officials said.
According to the federal health ministry data released on Wednesday, 20,557 new cases of Covid were reported during the past 24 hours, taking the total tally to 43,803,619 in the country.
The country reported 16,935 and 15,528 new cases on Monday and Tuesday, respectively. The country also logged 40 related deaths during this period, which has pushed the overall death toll to 525,825 since the beginning of the pandemic, the ministry said.
