Covid infection rate at 7.38pc

The Covid-19 caseload almost doubled to reach 596 on Sunday as the spread of the virus continues unabated in recent times in Bangladesh.

The number of daily cases was recorded at 304 on Saturday, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The test positivity rate also jumped to 7.38 per cent on Sunday against the previous day's 5.94 per cent.

However, no fatality was reported due to coronavirus during the last 24 hours until 8:00 pm on Sunday.

With the latest daily counts, the total fatalities from Covid-19 reached 29,131, according to the DGHS data.

A total of 8,074 samples were tested from 8,191 collected across the country during the last 24 hours.

However, 49 more people recovered from the coronavirus disease in the country during the last 24-hour reporting time, reveals the DGDH data. The rate of recovery from the Covid-19 was reported at 97.42 per cent on Sunday.
