CHATTOGRAM, Nov 18: The operational activities at Chittagong Port, the country's prime sea port, resumed on Saturday following the withdrawal of a cyclone alert issued for the port.

Omar Faruk, Secretary of Chittagong Port Authority (CPA), confirmed that ship berthing, cargo and container handling have recommenced.

The CPA lifted the previously declared high alert level 3 for Cyclone Midhili, prompting the resumption of port activities.

Operational activities at the port were suspended on Friday, halting the berthing of ships and the loading/unloading of cargoes and containers due to the cyclone alert. Ships from outer anchorage were barred from entering the jetty, and no outgoing ships were permitted during this period.

Under CPA's directives, ship captains were instructed to move their ships to outer anchorage as a precautionary measure due to the cyclone. Consequently, all ships vacated the jetties of Chittagong port on Friday.
