Cultural secy critically hurt in road crash

Dr. Ranajit Kumar Biswas, secretary of Ministry of Cultural Affairs, was critically injured in a road accident near Bonpara of Natore district on Dhaka-Rajshahi Highway Friday afternoon, report agencies.
The accident occurred around 3pm while he was returning to Dhaka after attending a programme in Rajshahi, police and local sources said.
He was rushed to a local clinic with critical head, waist and knee injuries. After giving first aid, he was shifted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) where he underwent an operation around 5pm.
His driver Deen Mohammad and bodyguard Rafiqul Islam also suffered injuries in the accident. They are undergoing treatment at RMCH.
For better treatment, Dr Ranjit was flown to Dhaka by an air ambulance.
On arrival, he was admitted to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical College University (BSMMU) Hospital, cultural ministry sources said.
