Customers happy with 9th IPF \\\'14

Local and international customers were satisfied with the 9th Bangladesh International Plastics, Packaging, Printing, and Food Processing Industry Fair - IPF 2014 which concluded Sunday, as the participants had large volumes of spot sales and orders.
The participants including manufacturers and machinery importers received orders worth around Tk 5.0 billion, while many others sold machinery essential to produce packaging materials for pharmaceuticals and garment factories, the organisers said.
Now the country's garment and pharmaceutical sectors are growing significantly and all the industries are sourcing most of the packaging materials from local makers because of their better quality, industry insiders said.
They said the Tk 180 billion local market is growing at 20 per cent a year. At present, local manufacturers are exporting shopping bags, butcher bags, PVC pipe, polyethylene sheets, ball-points, tooth brush, toys, hanger, hand gloves, artificial flowers, table covers, computer accessories, waste baskets and wall clocks.
Head of marketing of Allytech Corporation Ashis Kumar Sarker said his company sold 6 packaging machines worth Tk 2.0 million and received a good volume of orders.
Director of Luna Plastic Industry Ltd Sujauddin Zafar said they entertained a good number of visitors and had brisk sales worth Tk 10 million.
At the concluding ceremony, President of Bangladesh Plastic Goods Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BPGMEA) Jasim Uddin said the local market is growing fast, as the sector is becoming cost-effective and producing high quality products.
He said now local manufacturers are able to meet the demand of plastic products including packaging materials, garment and pharmaceutical accessories.
The BPGMEA and Chan Chao International Co Ltd jointly organised the four-day event at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre in city.
At the fair, more than 300 stalls of different countries including Bangladesh, China, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, U A E and the United Kingdom showcased a comprehensive range of industrial products, technologies and services.
