CHITTAGONG, Apr 10 (UNB): Teachers of Chittagong Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (CVASU) Saturday observed class abstention to protest the locking of Vice Chancellor's bungalow.
CVASU teachers also gave an ultimatum to unlock the VC Dr Nitish Chandra Devnath's residence by night. They also threatened to go for indefinite class abstention from today (Sunday) morning if their demand was not met.
Kamal Majumdar, Convener of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) of CVASU unit said they would not allow the VC to return to the campus.
BCL activists also brought out a procession and held rally protesting the teachers' class abstention.
BCL men locked the bungalow of the VC Wednesday night pressing for his resignation.
Academic activities of the university resumed on April 4 after nearly four and half months' closure.
The university was closed sine die on December 14 last year when the BCL workers had enforced an indefinite strike demanding the Vice Chancellor's removal on charges of his alleged corruption and nepotism in recruitment of the university staff.
