Bangladesh registered 109 cases of COVID-19 on Sunday, taking the overall tally of infections to 1,954,115, report agencies.
But no new fatalities were registered in the 24-hour count, keeping the death toll from the disease unchanged at 29,131, according to the latest government data released on Sunday.
As many as 5,280 samples were tested across the country, for a positivity rate of 2.06 per cent.
Among the eight divisions, Dhaka recorded the highest number of cases, with 103 infections.
Another 91 people recovered from the illness nationwide, bringing the total number of recoveries to 1,905,266.
The latest figures put the recovery rate at 97.50 percent and the mortality rate at 1.49 percent.
Globally, over 535.06 million people have been infected by the novel coronavirus and 6.30 million have died, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University.
Infections have been reported in more than 210 countries and territories since the first cases were identified in China in December 2019.
Meanwhile, more than 110,000 Rohingya children and adolescents living in the camps in Cox's Bazar have received their first jab against COVID-19, said the UN refugee agency on Sunday.
They have been vaccinated as part of the National Vaccination Plan from the government of Bangladesh with support of UNHCR, WHO, UNICEF and other humanitarian partners.
Globally the overall number of Covid cases has surpassed 540 million amid a rise in new infections in parts of the world.
According to the latest global data, the total case count mounted to 540,221,830 while the death toll from the virus reached 6,330,934 on Sunday morning.
The US has recorded 87,305,419 cases so far and 1,035,828 people have died from the virus in the country, the data shows.
India's COVID-19 tally rose to 43,219,491 during the past 24 hours across the country, showed the health ministry's latest data.
Besides, 10 deaths from the pandemic registered since Saturday morning took India's total death toll to 524,757.
