Deal on Chinese grant for building expo centre

The government on Tuesday signed two separate Letters of Exchange (LEs) with China to get Tk 6.75 billion (675 croe) in grant from the Chinese government to implement a Tk 7.96 billion (796-crore) project - the Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Centre, reports UNB.
Finance Minister AMA Muhith and Chinese Commerce Minister Gao Mucheng signed the letters on behalf of their respective sides at the ministry's conference room at the Secretariat.
Under the LEs, the Chinese government will construct a two-storey building to create a parking space with the capacity to accommodate 1500 cars alongside the exhibition centre in Purbachal, and the structure will contain 800 exhibition booths. China will provide technical support.
Besides, Bangladesh and China also signed two Letters of Exchange (LEs) on day to collect medical equipment and appliances for the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare under a Chinese grant of Tk 350 million (35 crore).
