Several hundred garment workers staged demonstrations in protest against the death of their two fellows in a road accident in the city's Malibagh area on Tuesday.
Agitating workers also set at least two buses on fire and vandalised dozen others during their demonstrations.
They took to the streets and clashed with law enforces after hearing the news about the accident that left Meem, 13, and Parvin, 19, dead.
Besides, chase and counter-chase took place as law enforces tried to clear the road for traffic movement.
Being informed, policemen went to the spot to bring angry protesters under control as traffic around the areas come to a halt from around 4:00 to 7:00 pm.
Two fire-fighting units rushed to the scene to douse the fire, according to the fire service and civil defence headquarters.
Meem and Parvin worked with MH Garments in the city, said on-duty police officer at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) police outpost ASI Khan.
Police seized the bus and arrested its driver shortly after the incident, he said, adding that the bodies of the victims were sent to DMCH morgue for autopsy.
Deputy Commissioner of Tejgaon Division Biplob Kumar Sarkar assured the protesters of bringing the offenders to book. Those who were responsible for the accident would not be spared, he warned.
The accident happened when the two RMG workers were crossing a road at Chowdhurypara in Malibagh area. A bus of Suprobhat Paribahan hit and ran over them, leaving them critically injured.
They were rushed to DMCH where on-duty doctors declared them dead, police said.
