Deaths from measles-like symptoms nears 800

Bangladesh reported four more deaths from measles-like symptoms and another dengue-related fatality in the past 24 hours, pushing the combined health burden from the two diseases higher amid ongoing outbreaks.
The total number of deaths from measles and suspected cases has risen to 797 over the past four months, according to a bulletin issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Friday.
Of the total fatalities, 95 were confirmed measles cases.
Meanwhile, 878 suspected and 130 confirmed measles infections were recorded during the same period.
The total number of suspected measles infections has increased to 119,448, while confirmed infections have reached 14,708.
In response to a rapidly spreading measles outbreak, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has already vaccinated more than 18.48 million children since April.
Measles is a highly contagious viral disease that affects people of all ages and remains one of the leading causes of death among young children globally.
Meanwhile, another dengue patient died in the past 24 hours, while 338 others were hospitalised.
The total number of dengue-related deaths has risen to 38, with the caseload reaching 11,195 since January this year.
