Delta Life expects 20pc business growth in 2007

Delta Life Insurance Company Ltd (DLICL), one of the country's leading life insurance companies, expects a 20 per cent growth of its life fund in 2007, to Tk 12 billion.
"We are expecting to add another 3,50,000 new policy holders this year," Syed Moazzem Hossain, chairmen of the company, told a group of journalists in the city Sunday.
Last year, DLICL settled 40,000 insurance claims amounting to Tk 840 million, he said, adding this year the company is likely to pay Tk 2.75 billion as insurance claim.
Among others Muhammad Raushan Ali, vice chairman, Mohd Syedul Islam, director and chairman audit committee, Nurul Huda, director, Das Dev Prasad, managing director, A B M Saiful Huq, deputy managing director, and Sultan-ul-Abedine Mollah, company secretary and head of investment, among others, were present at the meeting.
Speaking on the occasion, Dev Das Prasad, managing director of the company, claimed that the financial position of the company was now very strong.
He said in 2006 the company issued policies to 2,76,472 people.
