Nine more deaths were reported from dengue in 24 hours till Monday morning, raising the fatalities from the mosquito-borne disease in Bangladesh to 1,417 this year.
With these additional fatalities, the total casualties have reached 1,417 including 841 in Dhaka, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
During the same period, 1,794 hospitalisations were recorded across the country, with 417 of them in Dhaka, as reported by DGHS.
Unfortunately, the dengue situation is still worsen, with a growing number of deaths and cases.
Health authorities are also witnessing an increase in new cases outside of
Dhaka, with DGHS reporting 1,377 new hospitalisations in these areas.
The report estimates that the mortality rate among hospitalised patients is approximately 0.5 per cent.
Last year, 281 people died due to dengue, the second highest in the history of the country.
Meanwhile, the total number of dengue cases has risen to 281,698 with Dhaka alone accounting for 101,567 cases, according to DGHS.
Currently, there are 6,662 patients receiving treatment in hospitals across the country, with 1,807 of them in Dhaka. Of the total number of patients admitted, 273,619 have recovered and returned home, including 98,919 from Dhaka.
