Dengue fever claimed three more lives while 1,144 were hospitalised during a 24-hour period until Tuesday morning.
Taking the daily tallies into account, the number of fatalities from the mosquito-borne disease reached 166 and the number of hospitalisations to 32,082 cases this year.
Two of the deaths were reported in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) areas while another one was reported in Dhaka South, Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) revealed the figures in its daily bulletin.
Of the dengue positive patients, 253 hospitalised in DNCC, 188 in DSCC and 252 beyond the city corporation areas of Dhaka division during the last 24 hour period.
Of the hospitalised patients, the highest 226 were aged between 21 and 25 years. Majority or around 65 per cent of them were male.
According to data available, the highest number of dengue cases and deaths in nine months of this year occurred in September as 80 or almost half of the deceased reported in the last month. Nearly 18,000 people were also hospitalised in September.
Since the number of cases is on the rise in recent times, the situation may worsen in October as sporadic rains are taking place.
