Dengue claims two more lives --

211 hospitalised

Two more people died of dengue fever in the past 24 hours until Wednesday morning while 211 patients were also hospitalised across the country.

With the daily counts, total fatalities and hospitalised patients in the country this year reached 82 and 20,729 respectively, according to the regular bulletin of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The DGHS also said one of the two deceased was aged between 11 and 20 years and another within 31-40 years.

The viral disease claimed a total of 13 lives in October till date, 23 in September, 34 in August and 12 in July.

Of the latest patients suffering from the mosquito-borne disease, 163 were hospitalised in the capital city and 48 in other regions.

Of them, 73 were admitted to public hospitals whereas 90 were admitted to private hospitals inside the capital.

Dhaka division except the capital reported 20 cases, Chattogram division four, Mymensingh three, Khulna eight, Rajshahi six, Rangpur two, Barishal four and Sylhet division one case in the 24 hours' period.

At present there are 928 dengue patients admitted to different public and private hospitals in the country including 766 in Dhaka city and 162 elsewhere in the country. As many as 19,719 patients have been released from hospitals after treatment of the viral disease so far this year.
