DGHS orders to shut down unauthorized pharmacies in govt hospitals

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has ordered to shut down the operation of all illegal canteens and unauthorized pharmacies at government hospitals.
The order also restricted giving any fresh authorization to open new canteens or pharmacies.
"All illegal, unauthorized, expired pharmacies, canteens or cafeterias located inside the country's medical college hospitals, specialized hospitals, district headquarters, general hospitals and upazila health complexes are ordered to be completely stopped," according to a DGHS circular.
The Director of hospitals at the DGHS Dr. Abu Hussain Md. Moinul Ahsan signed the circular saying the new instruction on Thursday.
If these institutions have government dues, they have been asked to take necessary steps to collect them and then shut them down, the circular read.
At the same time, "no new pharmacy, canteen or cafeteria will be allowed to be set up inside the hospital."
Apart from this, the concerned have been instructed to take action regarding not renewing the approval of the pharmacy-canteen established in the meantime, according to the circular.
The director general of the DGHS has approved the order, according to the circular.
