Dhaka Bank MD Emranul Huq passes away

Emranul Huq, Managing Director and CEO of Dhaka Bank, passed away on Sunday at a hospital in Kolkata, India after fighting against cancer. He was 61.
Mr Huq joined as the MD and CEO of Dhaka Bank in February 2020. He joined the bank in 1998 and
served in various key positions, including DMD for business banking, head of corporate banking, and branch manager of several corporate branches during his banking career.
A Bachelor of Commerce with Honors in Management from the University of Dhaka and a Master's in Business Administration from the American International University-Bangladesh, Mr Huq had over three decades of professional banking experience at home and abroad.
He began his career in 1986 as a management trainee of Bank of Credit and Commerce International in Dhaka.
Before joining Dhaka Bank, Mr Huq worked at Eastern Bank Ltd and Credit Africa Bank Ltd. in Zambia, in various positions.
Mr Huq is survived by his wife and a son and two daughters.
A bank source said the body of Mr Huq will arrive here today (Monday) and be buried at Azimpur family graveyard.
The Dhaka Bank in a press release on Sunday recalled his visionary leadership and unwavering dedication to the bank. 'His contribution to the banking industry of Bangladesh will be remembered with great respect. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time," it added.
