Dhaka-Cox's Bazar route to get new train from January 1

Bangladesh Railway has announced the introduction of another intercity train on the Dhaka-Cox's Bazar route, scheduled for operating from January 1, 2024.
Railways Minister Nurul Islam Sujan made the announcement during a press briefing at Rail Bhaban on Wednesday.
The decision to add another train was made in response to the high demand from passengers, as all trains since the launch of the Cox's Bazar Express on December 1 have been operating at full capacity and required additional coaches.
The name of the new train that will connect the capital city with the tourism city is yet to be finalized.
Additionally, the railways minister announced the launch of a commuter train on the Khulna-Jessore-Mongla route starting from January 1.
When asked about the delays in maintaining the schedule between Cox's Bazar and Dhaka, Nurul Islam explained that the train from Cox's Bazar runs at a slower pace for the safety of passengers, as incidents of screws being removed from the tracks have been reported.
He also mentioned that a locomotive has been placed on the track prior to the operation of the Cox's Bazar express.
