Dhaka, Ctg to go on Google Map in May

Google Map would start showing  streets, attractions and major establishments of Dhaka and  Chittagong cities in May as the search engine giant is near to complete collection of 360-degree street-level imageries, reports BSS.

After the official announcement from Google, people around  the world would be able to see panoramic view of Dhaka and Chittagong cities with all major establishments, historical and tourist attractions, restaurants and offices.

The street view of Google Map will allow people virtually explore the two major cities including the major landmarks, historical places, tourist attractions, shopping malls, restaurants, parks and playgrounds and businesses.

"Google has nearly completed collection of images of Dhaka and Chittagong cities and some highways in the first phase of its programme in Bangladesh," Kabir Bin Anwar, Project Director of Access to Information (a2i) programme of the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) told BSS.

Kabir, also the director general of PMO, said the street view services of Google Map for the two major cities would be launched in May.

He said the Google Street View Car so far collected images of 100 archaeological sites of the country. It will bring few more cars to do the same jobs for including more cities and towns of Bangladesh in its one of the popular apps.

On February 9, 2013, Google Inc launched it "street view" project in Bangladesh. The PMO and the Post and Telecommunication and Information Technology Ministry assigned the search engine giant to capture the street view in the two cities. Google is bearing all the expenses of the project.

Launched in the United States in 2007, Google Street View so far included over 3000 cities and towns of 40 countries across the world.
