Finance and planning adviser Mirza Azizul Islam Tuesday said a "multi-donor trust fund" would be formed to assist Bangladesh in overcoming effects of natural disasters. An announcement to this effect is likely to be made in the upcoming London conference on global warming on September 10.
An action plan for mobilisation and utilisation of the proposed fund will also be prepared, Mr. Islam said emerging from a meeting with two major donors, the World Bank and the DFID in Dhaka.
The adviser discussed the issue with the World Bank and Department for International Development (DFID), which will provide logistics and financial support for holding the London conference.
The conference has been organised to draw the attention of the world community about the effects of global warming. Bangladesh will highlight its vulnerability to the effects of global warming too.
"Bangladesh will send a high-level delegation to the meeting to focus on the situation of the country," Mr. Islam, who is expected to lead the Bangladesh delegation, said.
