Police arrested former Social Welfare minister of the Awami League government, Dr Dipu Moni, from Baridhara area in the capital, Dhaka.
She was arrested in a case filed in Chandpur, a detective branch (DB) official preferring anonymity told the FE.
She was taken to the DB office at the Minto Road in the city.
Dr Dipu Moni was a member of parliament four consecutive times from Chandpur-3 constituency.
She served as the education minister and foreign minister during the Awami League's 15-year rule, which ended in a mass uprising and killing of hundreds of students and general protesters by the police during the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement and Quota Reform Movement.
