Metrorail authorities overnight debarred entry into its stations without journey purpose, saying one would have to pay Taka 100 once someone's rapid pass is scanned at the concourse floor, reports BSS.

The state-run Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL), which runs the Metrorail service, in a notice suggesting from now on nobody would be able to enter into the concourse areas of their stations getting their passes scanned.

A metrorail official briefly said the rule actually debarred entry and exit of someone from the same station without taking the ride and the money would be deducted from his or her rapid pass.

The rule was enforced since October 20, the notice read.

Previously one could have entered the station and get out without taking the journey without any charge.
