The Department of Public Health Engineering (DPHE) has set up a Citywide Inclusive Sanitation (CWIS)-FSM support cell to ensure safely managed sanitation for all by 2030.
The support cell was set up in collaboration with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation as part of the national plan to implement the institutional and regulatory framework for Feacal Sludge Management (FSM).
The ministry of LGRD and cooperatives has been working to ensure safely managed sanitation as part of the government's efforts to achieve the sustainable development goals (SDGs).
The support cell will help the local government bodies make effective plans and prepare development projects for proper management of solid and human waste.
Besides, it will also help raise public awareness and enhance capacity building of the stakeholders.
LGRD and cooperatives Minister Md Tajul Islam, while virtually inaugurating the CWIS-FSM support cell on November 19, sought more financial and technical supports from development partners for the government efforts to curb pollution and ensure proper waste management, which will help achieve the SDGs and the government's Vision 2041.
