DSE indices gain, turnover declines

The indices on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) Tuesday gained but the turnover marginally declined.
The turnover declined to Tk 1.494 billion from Tk 1.532 billion on the previous day.
Market sources said the institutional investors are showing enthusiasm and it is creating the buying spree on the DSE.
On Tuesday's trading session DSE-20 Index or DS20, DSE General Index or DGEN and All Shares Price Index or DSI gained by 19.712 points, 15.385 points and 7.165 points to close at 1835.812, 2062.599 and 1685.105 respectively.
Out of 206 traded issues, prices of 127 gained, 65 declined and 14 remained unchanged Tuesday.
Southeast Bank was the top turnover leader with trading issues worth Tk 160.542 million followed by Square Pharma at Tk 101.791 million, Summit Power at Tk 87.533 million, Prime Bank at Tk 74.312 million, Power Grid at Tk 71.554 million, BRAC Bank at Tk 69.318 million, Grameen One at Tk 56.972 million, AB Bank at Tk 51.810 million, Desco at Tk 37.799 million and NCC Bank at Tk 35.527 million Tuesday.
Prices of Southeast Bank gained by 4.50 per cent to close at Tk 475.50 per share, Square Pharma at Tk 2.19 per cent at Tk 3796.50, Prime Bank by 1.29 per cent at Tk 800.75, Grameen One by 4.84 per cent at Tk 45.40, AB Bank by 3.12 per cent at Tk 1452.25, NCC Bank by 2.74 per cent at Tk 318.00 and Dutch Bangla Bank Limited (DBBL) by 9.79 per cent at Tk 3059.75.
Prices of Summit Power declined by 0.78 per cent to Tk 921.75, Power Grid by 0.84 per cent to Tk 588.00, BRAC Bank by 0.52 per cent to Tk 713.25 and Desco by 0.90 per cent to Tk 878.50.
The total market capitalisation increased to Tk 456.273 billion from Tk 453.345 billion on the previous day.
DSE source said due to computer virus attack, different brokerage houses are facing trouble in their trading activities.
DSE authorities told the members to scan their MSA and TWS with updated antivirus software to avoid such troubles.
DSE also urged the members not to use pocket USB drives, external floppy disk, CD and Internet with any PC of same network.
Lafarge Surma Cement Company has further informed that "the Vacation Bench of the Supreme Court of India has heard their application for removal of limestone stockpile. In response to their request, the Court has ordered the Meghalaya State Government and the Ministry of Environment and Forest, New Delhi to file their replies with the Court and referred the matter to the Regular Forest Bench of the Supreme Court that will reconvene soon. In the meantime, their application for forest clearance for their quarry in Meghalaya is progressing well. They are confident of resolving the issue within the shortest possible time".
