DSE market capitalisation crosses Tk 600b-mark

The total market capitalisation of the country's premier bourse- Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE)- Tuesday crossed Tk 600-billion mark, a new milestone, although the indices declined due to profit-taking after a record ten-day rally.
Debut trading of a new issue-Bangladesh Finance and Investment Co Ltd- propelled the total market capitalisation to new heights.
The total market capitalisation rose to Tk 602.048 billion Tuesday from Tk 597.080 billion on the previous day Monday.
Earlier, the total market capitalisation of the DSE crossed Tk 500-billion mark July 16 and Tk 400-billion mark May 3 last.
On Tuesday, DSE General Index (DGEN), DSE-20 Index (DS20) and All Shares Price Index (DSI) shed 25.953 points, 24.640 points and 22.828 points to close at 2574.679, 2056.933 and 2129.554 respectively.
The total turnover dropped to Tk 1.801 billion from its previous Tk 2.099 billion.
Out of 202 traded issues prices of 64 gained, 118 declined and 20 remained unchanged.
BRAC Bank was the turnover leader with traded shares worth Tk 254.017 million followed by Power Grid Tk 180.109 million, Desco Tk 116.566 million, City Bank Tk 103.431 million, Summit Power Tk 59.153 million, NBL Tk 45.219 million, IFIC Bank Tk 40.735 million, UCBL Tk 38.038 million, Prime Bank 28.990 million and Square Pharma Tk 26.675 million.
