DU to hold ‘Gha’ unit test afresh

Dhaka University (DU) authority has decided to hold its 'Gha' (D) unit admission test afresh for some 18,000 students, who passed the previous 'controversial' test.
The decision was taken at a meeting of dean's committee, held at the Vice Chancellor's (VC) office on Tuesday. DU VC Professor Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman presided over the meeting.
DU Social Science Faculty Dean Dr. Sadeka Halim will coordinate the re-examination along with Arts Faculty Dean Dr. Abu Md. Delwar Hosain, Biological Science Faculty Dean Dr. Md. Imdadul Hoque, and Law Faculty Dean Dr. Md. Rahmat Ullah.
Earlier on the day, Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) submitted a memorandum to the VC, seeking fresh admission test for 'Gha' unit for the successful examinees only.
Besides, Bangladesh General Students' Rights Protection Council, a platform also known as quota reform movement, organised a large rally at the campus to drum up the demand of retaking the admission test.
The 'Gha' unit admission test for 2018-19 academic year was held on October 12, in which a total of 18,463 admission seekers obtained the pass score among 70,440 students.
The question paper of the test was leaked minutes before it commenced, claimed admission seekers and guardians. However, DU published the controversial test result on Tuesday.
