DU VC terms statement givers on Yunus' side unscrupulous

Vice-Chancellor (VC) of Dhaka University (DU) Prof Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman said the 160 people who made statement on behalf of Dr Muhammad Yunus are unscrupulous who had basically worked as lobbyists for money.

The DU VC said this at a human chain programme held at the altar of 'Aparajeyo Bangla' on the university campus.

DU Teachers' Association (DUTA) organised the programme to protest the interference in the judicial system of Bangladesh over the issue of Dr Yunus.

The DU VC said, "They have no ethics, no ideology. They are totally unscrupulous people who have written statement on behalf of Dr Muhammad Younus. They can do these for their own interest. They are not our friends, they are our enemies."

"By doing these, they cannot interfere in our judicial system," DU VC added.

DU Pro VC (Academic) Prof Dr ASM Maksud Kamal also criticising Dr Yunus said, "If Dr Yunus had minimum patriotism, he wouldn't have spent billions of dollars on advertising with the foreigners."

Former DU Proctor Prof Dr AKM Golam Rabbani said, "We will apply to the Nobel Committee for withdrawal of Yunus's Nobel."

DUTA President Prof Dr Md Nizamul Haque Bhuiyan presided over the programme while its General Secretary Prof Dr Zeenat Huda was also present. Pro-VC (Admin) Prof Dr Muhammad Samad, Treasurer Prof Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed and others also spoke on the occasion.
