EC holds media briefing today

The Election Commission (EC) headed by Kazi Habibul Awal has called a media briefing amid measures taken by the interim government to reform the constitutional body after the student-led mass uprising, report agencies.

The commission is scheduled to hold a courtesy meeting with journalists at the EC office in the capital at 12:00 pm today (Thursday).

The four other current members of the commission are retired brigadier general Md Ahsan Habib Khan, retired district and sessions judge Rashida Sultana, and retired senior secretaries Md Alamgir and Md Anisur Rahman.

The commission held a discussion at the EC headquarters on Wednesday.

When asked about the possibility of a 'resignation' while leaving the election building, Chief Election Commissioner Awal said, "A statement will be made [Thursday].”
