EC likely to announce election schedule today

The Election Commission will hold a meeting on Wednesday to discuss the schedule for the 12th parliamentary elections, reports UNB.

Public Relations Officer of the Election Commission Secretariat Md Shariful Alam told the media on Tuesday that the journalists will be informed about the announcement for the election schedule at 10 am on Wednesday.

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Habibul Awal is likely to address the nation after the commission's meeting at 5pm on Wednesday and announce the schedule, according to the Election Commission.

Usually, the Election Commission holds a meeting before announcing the schedule for the national parliamentary elections.

The CEC's speech is then recorded for broadcast on Bangladesh Television and Bangladesh Betar.

The speech is broadcast in the evening when the schedule is announced.

Earlier, in response to a question from journalists at the Election Commission building, EC Secretary Md. Jahangir Alam said that the schedule for the 12th parliamentary election can be announced by next Wednesday.
