The Election Commission (EC) will send its invitation to Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) to sit for dialogue on electoral reforms within November 7 if the party reached a consensus to end their leadership dispute by then.
"Otherwise, if the internal conflict of the party remains, we will hold a meeting on November 3 or 4 to decide what is to be done in that situation," Election Commissioner M Sohul Hussain told UNB Sunday over telephone.
The EC had earlier said they would send the invitation scrutinizing the factious party's constitution and relevant laws. The EC would have to send invitation to BNP at least within November 7 since the dialogue with BNP is scheduled for November 22.
The EC sends its invitation to the political parties for holding consultation on electoral reforms at least 15 days ahead of schedule, Sohul said.
"We are waiting… We fervently hope that the conflict (within BNP) would be resolved by that time (before November 7)… We may send a letter of query to the party within the time (if no consensus takes place among them)," Sohul said.
