ECNEC revises 3 projects involving Tk 14.19 billion

The government's highest economic policy-making body ECNEC revised the upazila office complex expansion project Tuesday along with two other development projects at a total cost of Tk 14.19 billion.
Presided over by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) endorsed the three projects at its meeting at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar in the city.
Emerging from the meeting, Planning Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal said the total amount of Tk 14.19 billion funds for three projects would come from the government's exchequer.
He said Tk 11.99 billion fund for the ECNEC-approved revised upazila office complex expansion project will be provided from the government's exchequer.
Under the project, the government would expand the office complexes, at 204 upazilas across the country by June, 2017.
The Local Government and Engineering Department (LGED) will construct the buildings.
The ECNEC meeting also revised the Shirnirteck-Gabtoli bridge connecting road building project at a cost of Tk 890 million.
This road will connect the Uttara-Ashulia road with the Dhaka-Aricha highway.
The ECNEC also revised the integrated rural employment for the poor women project at a cost of Tk 1.31 billion.
Poor women in Barisal and Khulna divisions would receive Tk 15,000 as loan each for enhancing self-employment in their households.
The ECNEC meeting was attended by the members of the council, high officials of the planning Commission and ministries concerned.
