Ekram murder prime accused Minar held

Plainclothes police arrested Mahtab Uddin Chowdhury Minar, the prime accused in the murder case of Fulgazi upazila parishad chairman and Awami League leader Ekramul Haque, from the capital on Tuesday.
Deputy Commissioner (public relations) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Masudur Rahman said Detective Branch of police arrested Minar from Kachukhet near Dhaka Cantonment area around 3pm.
Meanwhile, police and Rab in their separate drives in Fulgazi upazila on Tuesday arrested local Awami League leader Abdur Rahman in connection with the murder, and recovered two foreign pistols and nine bullets.
Fulgazi police officials said they, acting on a tip-off, raided a shop at Purba Sonapur village at Kazir Bagh union parishad in Fulgazi upazila around 11:30am and arrested Abdur Rahman Rouf, general secretary of Kazir Bagh union AL.
With Rouf’s arrest, the number of arrested people in connection with Ekramul murder now stands at 19, according to UNB.
